About The Park

Fort Chiswell Animal Park is a free-range zoo located on 45 acres just off Exit 80 on I-81/I-77. The zoo is home to animals from six continents and has become a favorite destination for families, schools, churches, and group travel tours due to the hands-on experience it offers.

Your all-day admission includes the Petting Zoo and the Safari Bus Ride. Admission is $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for children ages 3-12, and ages 2 and under are free. Don't forget your "Zoo Chow"--it's only $5.00 per bag and the animals will love you for it! In the Petting Zoo you'll have the opportunity to feed deer, goats, and llamas. Plus, you can throw peanuts to the monkeys.

The highlight of the Fort Chiswell Animal Park experience is the Safari Bus Ride through the Outback. As you take a ride on the WILD side you'll be able to feed a variety of animals such as Humphrey the Camel, Cody the Bison, or Bindi the Zebra.

As the bus winds through the Outback's 35 acres you'll have the opportunity to observe many of animal's natural behaviors such as the water buffalo rolling in the mud, the ostrich taking a dust bath, or the eland rearing their young.

Fort Chiswell Animal Park was established in 2004 and strives to provide a safe environment in which guests and animals can comfortably interact. It is the zoo where the animals WANT to see you and hope you'll spend the day. So pack a lunch, remember your camera, and prepare to meet some of the friendliest animals on the planet. You'll be glad you did.
